Earlier this year, MyWorld launched the second and final Collaborative Research and Development (CR&D) Open Call, led by Digital Catapult. The call brief is available to view on the Innovation Funding Service portal.
This competition aims to support business-focused research and innovation in the creative industries in the West of England.
Led by industry in collaboration with an academic partner, the CR&D open call is open to addressing the challenges facing creative industries from across the Creative Continuum.
Projects must demonstrate a high level of ambition to deliver technological advancement and its application to industry challenges. By partnering with research organisations in the region, projects will accelerate the adoption of research and development (R&D) and deliver innovations in the production of media in the UK and beyond.
Grant funding of £100,000 - £200,000 is available to undertake a Collaborative R&D project, lasting between 12 - 18 months.
The lead organisation needs to be a UK-registered business collaborating with researchers from one of the four universities in the region; the University of Bath, Bath Spa University, the University of Bristol or the University of the West of England. Projects must focus on screen-based and immersive technologies within the creative sector industries. Projects must intend to exploit the results of the collaborative R&D from or in the West of England region.
Applications for the second and final CR&D call closed on 23 November. The selected six projects will be announced early summer 2024.
