On Wednesday, 12th June, MyWorld Skills and Training attended the Bristol Education Partnership (BEP) Innovation in STEM Fair, an event designed to ignite the curiosity and creativity of 180 students aged 14 to 15. The fair provided an engaging platform for young minds to explore the latest advancements in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, featuring interactive exhibits and hands-on experiences.

Kirsten Cater from the MyWorld team, introduced attendees to the transformative potential of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). Showcasing how these technologies are revolutionising various fields, from manufacturing and healthcare to creative arts and architecture.

There were also discussions on the ethical implications of VR and AR technologies. Focusing on issues such as trust, security, and safety, encouraging students to consider how these technologies might alter users’ perceptions and the importance of ethical standards in tech innovation.

Students then had the chance to try out VR headsets, immersing themselves in environments crafted by the project’s researchers.

Overall, the BEP Innovation in STEM Fair was a great success, inspiring the next generation of innovators and ensuring an appreciation for the role of emerging technologies in shaping our modern world.
