In the rapidly evolving landscape of digital innovation, the intersection of creativity and technology is where the future is being shaped. It is more important than ever that a truly diverse cohort is at the forefront of developing and embracing new technologies.

Recognising this need, MyWorld is thrilled to offer 22 scholarships for postgraduate taught degree programmes linked to the creative technology industries, in 2024/25. The scholarships are for those from under-represented backgrounds, with the aim to open up career paths for diverse groups of people who may have previously faced barriers to working in the creative technology industries.

The West of England’s academic institutions demonstrate incredible complementary and collaborative strengths in creative technology. The MyWorld scholarship is available on courses relevant to the creative technology industries at University of Bristol, Bath Spa University, The University of the West of England, or the University of Bath.

“The MyWorld scholarship has been an important step in my career and it brought me closer to establishing myself as a solo artist by giving me an opportunity to hone my skills. It’s also opened me up to new paths for my practice and gave me access to technologies I wouldn’t have been exposed to before. I am very honoured to be a MyWorld scholar and I am looking forward to engaging with more of their opportunities.”
- Anonymous MyWorld 2022/23 scholar

The scholarship will provide up to a £5000 fee waiver for successful applicants. MyWorld scholars will not only benefit from financial aid, but also from MyWorld’s connections to industry and academia. Scholars will be notified of, and where possible, have priority for opportunities to network with employers and apply their course knowledge in the field.

In previous cohorts, scholars have:

  • Contributed to cutting-edge projects, at the intersection of industry and academia.
  • Collaborated with world-leading companies to develop their portfolio.
  • Received fully funded places on short courses and tickets to industry events, such as this year’s Creative Cities Convention.
  • Undertaken paid roles to support MyWorld’s activities, such as running demonstrations of our immersive kit at Bath Digital Festival.
  • Been supported to identify and apply to further development funding.
“To me, MyWorld is so much more than financial aid; it’s about giving people like me the opportunity to make connections with local creative industries. It’s helped me to get my foot in the door of places I wouldn’t have otherwise known how to approach or even know existed!"

It’s been an honour to be a scholar and I encourage anyone to apply and to make the most of the opportunities it has to offer.”
